FAQ

Kitchen & Safety

Where are Bonk Bars made? Every single Bonk Bar is small-batch crafted and packaged in a fully approved commercial kitchen located in the Deer Run neighborhood of Calgary, Alberta.

Are you certified and insured? We are fully insured, and our team holds valid Food Handler Certifications that strictly meet Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards.

Are Bonk Bars gluten-free? We use strictly gluten-free ingredients in our recipes. For example certified gluten-free sprouted oats. However, because we operate out of a shared commercial kitchen facility, there is always a minor risk of cross-contamination. We are incredibly careful, clean our stations thoroughly, and implement strict separation practices. We cannot guarantee a 100% certified allergen-free environment for those with severe wheat allergies.

I found some white/clear gel on my bar? We currently make all our bars on sheet trays and use refined coconut oil to grease them.

Nutrition & Ingredients

Are Bonk Bars vegan? Cuppa Joe, Chicken & Waffles, and Pad Thai are 100% plant-based and vegan, using pure maple syrup and vegan brown sugar as binders. Our OG and Matcha La Vista contain honey and Matcha La Vista has milk, so they are not vegan.

Do any of your bars contain caffeine? Yes. Our Cuppa Joe bar is made with real espresso ~80mg caffeine to give you a natural caffeine kick during endurance training or long days. Matcha La Vista also contains green tea about ~30mg of caffeine.

What allergens do your bars contain? Our bars are nut based. For other allergens please see the bars page or the back of your bar package.

What is the shelf life of a Bonk Bar, and how should I store them? Because we do not load our bars with artificial preservatives or chemical stabilizers, they are best enjoyed fresh.
